Just opened PNC checking account and I have extra 100 dollars? I've only deposited a 160$ check and a 500$ check and it says my account balance is 660. You know those blank checks you sometimes get with credit card promotions? I did some grocery shopping for a lady I clean for and she reimbursed me with one of those checks. I told her it was a bad idea, but she doesn't have the money in her bank account to pay me back. She is living on disability and already deep in debt as she has to pay for a lot of her medications out of pocket. She thinks that by paying with one of those checks it will only show up as a charge on her credit card. I don't know enough about it to explain to her that this is not the case. Anyone had/have issues with Home depot promotions applied? I purchased a nice washer and dryer set in February of this year under a 12 month no payments no interest promotion. Well, I missed a call this morning and when I googled the number it was from Home Depot collections or something. So, I go online and check my account to find that it looks like they only had the 6 months no payments no interest applied instead of the 12 months that we signed up for. I tried calling and they dont seem to know what they are doing and keep transferring me to collections and customer service and then hanging up on me. should I file income tax for Interest income of $200? Hello I am a unmarried independent college student, no one claims me as dependent. I received grants and took out loans to fund my education, I did not have any income other than student loans during 2009, but I do have a total of $200 interest income due to bank promotion for opening new checking account, I checked IRS website it states that only a part of grants given as living expenses/housing are taxable, but the 1098-T form my school gave me only states a sum I received last year, and the main source of living expense comes from fed loan, so Im confused, my question is that, should I file for tax return for the $200 interest I received? If you are disabled and are collecting Social Security??? I like the fact that for 8 years I have not filed a 1040A tax return every year because I only collect Social Security and have no other income. However, now Uncle Sam wants me to file a 1040A so I can get the stimulus check of a measeley $300. So the way I figure it.... ....... Once I file a 1040A Uncle Sam will have the legal right to scrutinize every dollar and cent in my bank account going back 7 years. And while there is nothing significant there to worry about the 1040A makes me culpable to scrutiny. I feel it also will allow them to scrutinze my checking account for the next 7 years. So this means I open the door to 14 years of scrutiny. My peeve is I like being "under the radar" and filing a 1040A will end that. So my dilimma is I like being off the radar and I feel its not worth the 300 dollars to potentially put me in cross hairs of some pencil pusher at the IRS who is looking for a promotion. It seems its a "damned if you do damned if you don't" type of thing. That is to say...will it raise more eyebrows if I don't file for the stimulus check or is it better to just lay low and ignore this attempt of big brother to know my private finances? When I am getting money from my relative's estate and I legally don't need to let them know about that. Add to that, family members have lent me money and these will be in my checking history etc. So I have reasons to be concerned that it will unfairly incriminate me if I file the 1040A in the event of a potential audit. Has anyone out there had an issue with Seattle Coffee Direct? If so, how did you resolve it? I signed up for their promotion a couple of months ago and have received 3 unsolicited charges to my account. I contacted them and returned the merchandise as instructed to receive a refund but to date I received nothing back from them. The first time I spoke to them they told me that I would receive a refund within 10-14 business days, that was over 3 weeks ago. i need to sue a bank, i believe i was fired due to racism and bonuses were forfeited after i did all the work? I was fired on august 5th due to "braking the code of ethics" at bank of america for supposedly manipulating the sales system to take "financial advantage". My Wells Fargo VISA Card APR interest jumped from 6% to 24%!! What happened? What did I do? For the last 9 years, I have had a Wells Fargo platinum VISA card (and checking account). I had 6% APR interest (through promotions) - then in July - the last promotion ran out and Wells Fargo JUMPED MY INTERSEST RATE TO 24%!! What happened? I have made all regular payments ON TIME. They have me as a loyal 9-year customer. What did I do to cause this? --- one of the things I noticed ONLINE is that people taking out a new Wells Fargo platinum VISA card would have a customary low 6 month beginning rate - BUT when it rose to it's full "prime rate" hike - it would ONLY be 21% . . . . so why did Wells Fargo hit me with 24%?????
