Checking Account Deals

Can I have two different Checking accounts at the same bank?

Just curious. It would help me budget better if I could have two different checking accounts. I have a savings, but I can't access the funds like a checking account. Thanks for your help.

  1. Of course you can. A lot of people do for the same reason.
  2. yes you can
  3. Yes, but you are only FDIC insured up to 100,000 per bank in the US regardless of the number of accounts. You can have as many as you need I have had up to seven in one bank at a time.
  4. YES My wife and I have 3 checking accounts, one for me, one for her, and one for household items. I also recommend this to keep from fighting over money, you have yours to buy what ever you want, your spouse has their money for their stuff, and then one for the bills. So they always get paid. If someone spends all their "allowance" for the month it doesnt effect the house hold money. Just figure out how much each person should contribute to the house hold account. Oh and also a few savings account the same format. The joint account is for saving for a house, vacation, new car, etc..
  5. yes you can but, would that be easy for you to have 2 different checking account numbers with the same bank? i have always kept multiple checking accounts open at different banks because it's easier to keep the account info straight.
